Alcohol Beyond Cirrohosis

Kathrene Harnacker

1CE

Many alcoholics will say that for them to drink is the equivalent of choosing to die. In this talk, I will review the many ways that may be true. Cirrhosis is not the only way the use of alcohol may be fatal. The International Agency for Research on Cancer classifies Alcohol as a Group 1 Carcinogen. Tobacco is a Group 1 carcinogen. Other medical issues heavy drinking can cause are anemia, cardiovascular disease, dementia, infectious disease, nerve damage and pancreatitis. These will be reviewed in the presentation. Additionally the research on the whether or not 2 glasses of wine a day are beneficial to your health will be reviewed.

Sign in will begin at 5:30pm and presentation will start at 6:00pm.
