  Identification as a person who is LGBTQ is not an identity that precludes Muslim identified people. This webinar will present knowledge about LGBTQ Muslims, ways to support this population, and implications for clinical practice

Presenter: Jahaan Abdullah LPC, NCC

Jahaan Abdullah is a board-certified licensed counselor in the state of Illinois. She is a graduate of Loyola Academy, in Wilmette Illinois, Chicago State University, in Illinois, and earned her doctorate from the counselor education and supervision program at Governors State University, in University Park, Illinois. Jahaan's research interest is two-fold. She is interested in researching the satisfaction, strength, stability and well-being of people of color, more specifically, factors that impact sexual satisfaction and relationship stability of African-American couples. Additionally, she is passionate about social justice, restorative justice, multicultural counseling, and issues impacting race, ethnic equality and the marginalization of vulnerable groups. The mental health and overall well-being of marginalized populations of color are important to her. In addition to pursuing her degree, Jahaan engages in Supervision work with The Family Institute at Northwestern University, in Evanston Illinois, and is a counselor at Norwegian American Hospital, where she currently works serving people of color through crisis intervention and counseling services. She has significant mental health experience and has published and presented around the world on social justice issues, issues impacting marginalized groups, counseling marginalized populations and other topics relating to and impacting mental health
